Kim Palmer is the Founderand Managing Director of On The Ball College. As a mom, she sees herself as a role-model to her boys to do a job that adds value and purpose to others.

Do you work because you want to, need to, or some combination of both? Why do you work?

When I started to work many years ago it was all about independence and the need to beable to stand on my own two feet as an independent women and purchase my own home and car. I work now as I believe my job gives purpose and help others in disadvantaged communities receive opportunities in technology that leads to employment. As a mom, I see myself as a role-model to my boys to do a job that adds value and purpose to others.I am also assisting my husband to help contribute to the household expenses and making opportunities available for our family as their is a second income.

What does day-to-day look like and how do you juggle it with kids?

Day to day is busy.What helps is having a supportive husband that understands the demands of running your own business.He assists me with managing the kids schedules and we support each other with our respective roles.

What’s one resource that, if you had, would make your working mom’s life easier?

A chef to help cater for healthier meals.

How would you encourage other working moms who are overwhelmed? To take time out for yourself and surround yourself with people who can fill your cup.You cant give from an empty cup.

Any last words about your experience as a working mom (positive or negative) Anything we didn’t ask?

Make time to build memories and enjoy the special moments as they happen ,as time goes by quickly.Be gentle on you and live in the moment. Prioritise family time.
