Oliver Marshall

Oliver Marshall is an attorney and leads the Cape Town branch of Kern Armstrong & Associates, where he specialises in both corporate-commercial law and dispute resolution. What makes him particularly valuable to entrepreneurs is that he sees both sides of the business journey—helping clients structure their ventures at the outset, and helping them defend what they’ve built when things go wrong.

Oliver holds a BA in Law and Politics and an LLB cum laude from Wits University, where he also completed his Master’s in Corporate and Commercial Law. While completing his postgraduate studies, he served as a lecturer and head tutor in Contract Law at Wits, before going on to complete his articles at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr—one of the top five law firms on the continent.

He now leads a dynamic team of attorneys based in Cape Town with a range of clients ranging from TakeAlot, Sasfin, Lombard, and FNB to private clients.

His passion for legal education and mentorship has shaped much of his career. He has co-founded mentorship initiatives, taught and mentored future lawyers, founded the Wits Legal Newspaper, and continues to contribute legal articles that help inform both clients and the public.

Oliver's commitment to the law and his clients stems from a deep desire for transformation and justice. Driven by a deep love for South Africa, he has consistently used the law to uplift others, from mentoring youth to advising organisations on how to build sustainably and scale with integrity.

Today, he joins us not just as a legal professional but as someone who truly believes in protecting the dreams and work of entrepreneurs, creatives, and NPOs.
